Brockwell Storage and Solar is today launching a statutory consultation on its detailed proposals for East Park Energy, a new solar farm and battery storage project to the northwest of St Neots.
Last year, we shared our initial plans for East Park Energy during a non-statutory consultation. Feedback collected during this consultation, along with the results of ongoing survey work, has helped to develop the proposals now being presented during the statutory consultation. The proposals include:
- A ground-mounted solar photovoltaic generating station with a capacity of 400 megawatts (MW), including inverters, transformers, switchgear and underground cable connections between different parcels of land
- A battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 100 MW, including battery storage units, transformers, water storage tanks and a control building
- An on-site substation, including a control building and electrical equipment
- An underground cable connection to the existing electricity transmission network via National Grid’s Eaton Socon substation, along with works at the substation itself
- Temporary construction and decommissioning compounds, including material laydown areas and staff welfare facilities
- Works to create, enhance and maintain the natural environment, including the delivery of at least 10% biodiversity net gain
- A Legacy Fund to provide financial contributions for local projects
- New temporary and permanent accesses, along with associated infrastructure (such as security and internal roadways).
You can find an overview of our proposals here, whilst all of the documentation published as part of the consultation is available to download from our Document library here.
During the consultation, the project team is hosting a number of public consultation events in the local area where people can find out more about the proposals. Details of these events, along with how you can submit your feedback, can be found here. We have also sent a newsletter to every property in the parishes our proposals would be located in with details of our consultation and all of the events we are holding.
The consultation runs until 29th October 2024, so please take the time to read through our plans and submit your feedback by this date.
